Business Development Manager – Chicago

KPSS, Inc., is an international, diverse company that is part of the Kao Corporation, a Japanese company specializing in the fields of cleanliness, beauty, health and chemicals with over 500 brands which include well known brands such as Biore, Jergens, John Frieda, Molten Brown, Kanebo and Phytomax.

As an affiliate of KPSS GmbH, a German manufacturer, our goal is to enhance the success of hair stylists around the world. We develop innovative ideas, international hair care and color brands, and distribute our products exclusively to salons, stylist exclusively – paired with innovative products and services – are the basic elements that KPSS brands Goldwell and KMS California share.

KPSS, Inc. has a new opportunity as Business Development Manager in the greater Chicago area. As a Business Development Manager the selected candidate will be responsible for developing the maximum sales potential of existing key accounts for acquiring new key accounts through the implementation of Salon Business Plans, resource management and habitual prospecting

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Work with existing accounts to identify opportunity areas for growth with KPSS brands as outlined in the Salon Business Plan.

Identify and establish rapport with the top competitors' salon customers within assigned territory with the objective to convert customers to KPSS, Inc.

Meet with clients regularly (in person and via the phone) to effectively promote the purchase, sell-through and support of KPSS products, promotions and programs.

Work with Sales Consultants to establish relationships with key accounts and to develop them to grow sales.

Attend and participate in sales meetings, business reviews and planning sessions on a regular basis

Make recommendations to improve KPSS programs, business initiatives, and ways to improve efficiencies.

The Business Development Manager will be a dynamic, forward thinking sales professional with an exceptional track record in a consumer facing business. The successful candidate must posses the following professional qualifications:

Minimum 5 – 7 years Field Sales Management experience with demonstrated success in leading a team to achieve goals, preferably in a direct market – industry experience desired

Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred; or equivalent education and experience

Proven ability to identify business opportunities, attract new business and build lasting professional relationships in a competitive category.

In depth knowledge and understanding of brand/products and ability to align capabilities with client needs.

Exhibits the highest level of honesty and integrity in all business dealings and/or situations.
